Yevhen Chepurnyy Named Valedictorian at Blackburn College Commencement

On May 12, 2012, Yevhen Chepurnyy, of Hoopeston, was named Valedictorian and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Blackburn College, Carlinville, IL. Chepurnyy earned a degree in Computer Science.

The 111 graduating seniors were addressed by U.S. Senator Dick Durbin.

Founded in 1837, Blackburn College is a four-year, Presbyterian-related, co-educational liberal arts college located between Springfield, IL and St. Louis, MO. The College is one of just seven Work Colleges in the nation, and the only one with a student-managed Work Program. Blackburn combines a rigorous academic program with 11 NCAA Division III athletic teams, more than 30 campus clubs and student organizations, and a beautiful small-town campus. Blackburn's tuition is the lowest of all private, four-year residential colleges in Illinois and among the lowest in the United States.
