Kyra Schweizer Finished Blackburn College's 2012 Volleyball Season

2012 Nov 26

Blackburn College's 2012 Volleyball season ended on October 30, with a loss to the Greenville Panthers. Among the team was Kyra Schweizer, a Junior at Blackburn, from Nokomis, IL.

The Lady Beavers' record was 1-28, with one win against Harris Stowe State University on September 20. They fell short to Greenville College with scores of 25-17, 25-22, and 25-16. With the coaching of Brandie Mullink, a Blackburn alumnus, the Lady Beavers have improved in their playing this year and will continue to improve in the years to come. Coach Mullink states: "The 2012 Blackburn Beavers Volleyball team experienced a tough season this year. Being my first year here at Blackburn brought lots of positive changes to the program, however injuries plagued our team. Looking toward next year, I believe we have a strong base of girls returning and I'm looking to recruit heavily. We will work hard in the off season to be better prepared in strength and skill. We have set high expectations as a team and are looking forward to making great strides each year as we build a stronger program."

Founded in 1837, Blackburn College is a four-year, Presbyterian-related, co-educational liberal arts college located in Carlinville, Illinois. One of the seven work colleges in the U.S., Blackburn is the only one with a student managed Work Program. Blackburn was ranked by US News as the 2012 #2 Best Value College in the Midwest; and placed #65 in The Washington Monthly's ranking of Baccalaureate Colleges. The school remains the most affordable, residential private liberal arts college in the state.
